The E&P industry is recovering from the financial turmoil and sharp drop in oil price that significantly impacted performance and activity level last year. Industry leaders are still facing severe challenges as access to capital remains limited, but with increasing commodity prices and less pressure in the service sector the short term perspectives for the upstream industry finally appear to be picking up.

The program for the second Oil & Finance Conference will explore many of these topics in detail.

Day 1 of the conference will focus on the Global Macro perspective with presentations covering both the general macro outlook and energy perspectives.

The second session will be opened by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, presenting their view on challenges on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) , followed by  Wood Mackenzie’s view on the competitiveness of the NCS relative to other petroleum provinces. Sanford C. Bernstein will give insight into Global E&P trends and Scotia Waterhouse will give an update on the M&A and the asset market in the North Sea.

Day 2 of the conference will focus on Financing of E&P companies.  Leading investors and banks will among others present their view on what characterises an interesting investment opportunity and structural changes on financing as a consequence of the financial turmoil the world has gone through. The conference will finish with a review opportunities and recent examples from the bond market, which re-opened in 2009, and legal considerations for the E&P industry after the financial crisis.

The Oil & Finance Conference is a unique opportunity to learn from acknowledged experts in the oil and finance field on current industry trends and challenges. It is also a great networking opportunity, which gathered over 100 professionals last year. In the evening there will be ample  opportunity to talk with colleagues from the oil and finance industry during a wine tour at Lysebu and subsequent dinner.
