A new spring for Integrated Operations
Taking the best of what oil companies and technology and service providers have achieved in the last 5 years it is possible to see that the contours of the first generation are being delineated. It is too early to declare mission accomplished but we have achieved enough that we can build on those changes.
There is no better time than May in Stavanger to discuss these issues!
At the first session of the conference we will highlight these achievements and focus on the learning’s of the implementation of the first generation. We will analyze what went right and what needs improving. The session name is
"Learnings from the First IO Generation".
The change process is still going on and needs to be consolidated and built upon in every company and we need still to share success stories and learn from our failures. There are areas we have barely touched: harness the power of teraflop computers and multiparallel data management processing are some of them, as it is to probe in depth the power of collaboration across all boundaries.
The time is coming to think of the next IO generation. How do we go from the first to the second generation? How do we develop the second generation? how do we define it? Collaboration across companies, between operators and service and technology providers, is just beginning. New contract forms, more advanced ways of devising incentives that advance integrated operations are some of the issues we need to discuss.
We will also see some examples of smartness applied in other industries. These will be the subjects of the second and third session, which are called:
"Transition Times" and "Welcoming the Next IO Generation".
In the last session we will have an Executive Debate with some outstanding industry leaders, both from operators and technology and service providers.
They have been deeply engaged in the First Generation of Integrated Operations through the years and we look forward to their debate on the Second Generation. Their experience and guidance on the new challenges is of great value.
